OCEAN DAY 2007
Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 9:30 am to 1 pm
Huntington State Beach, Huntington Beach, CA
(enter at Magnolia and PCH)
Ocean Day is an event that brings children and the beach together for a day of learning and fun. This year 1000 elementary school children from Orange County will cleanup Huntington State Beach and send a message of SOS for our oceans by posing for an aerial art photo in the shape of a WHALE. From San Francisco to San Diego, Ocean Day is a statewide event funded by the Whale Tail License Plate program through the California Coastal Commission. The audience is mainly children of lower income in ethnically diverse areas of the county. The message of responsibility and respect for life is beautifully communicated via school assemblies and supplemental curriculum provided in conjunction with the Kids for A Healthy Earth Program. Ocean Day is an opportunity for the children to put into action what they have been learning in the classroom as they begin to understand that they too can BE THE SOLUTION!
